Homemade Lavender Chamomile Diaper Rash Cream

Having a little one in diapers still keeps me being prepared by always having a homemade lavender chamomile diaper rash cream on hand. I hate using the drugstore brand, diaper rash creams on my little one to soothe her rashes because they contain chemicals and I just do not feel safe applying them to her little bottom.

My homemade lavender chamomile diaper rash cream is simple to make and contains only basic ingredients that soothes and comforts a rash naturally.

Natural Ingredients Needed

The ingredients needed to make the homemade lavender chamomile diaper rash cream are:

  • half cup of zinc oxide ointment,
  • five drops of calendula oil,
  • three drops each of pure skin safe lavender and chamomile essential oils
  • a teaspoon of organic aloe gel.

These basic ingredients can be found at any herbal shop, or whole food grocery store in the cosmetic isles.

The Materials Needed

The materials needed to make the diaper rash cream are a small clean wide mouth mason jar with a lid and a mixing spoon. If you do not have these materials, you can purchase them right at a grocery store or kitchen shop in your local area.

Reasons the Ingredients are Used

The reasons I use these ingredients to make the diaper rash cream are that zinc oxide is a natural skin protector and soother, calendula brings relief and healing to rashes, the essentials oils are calming and nourishing to the skin while the aloe is also a natural skin protectant and healer.

However, before using any of these ingredients in your homemade diaper rash cream, it is best to talk to a doctor and make sure your little one is not allergic to any of the ingredients used in it.

You do not want to end up with a diaper rash on your little one with allergic reactions because that is simply miserable both for you and for your baby.

Making the Cream

To make the lavender chamomile diaper rash cream, place all the ingredients into the jar and give them a good mix, using the spoon.

Once the cream is made, it should be thick with a white appearance and soft calming lavender chamomile scent that is not overpowering.

However, the cream is a bit greasy, but I do not find this to be a problem because it is all natural and will not harm my little one in anyway.

After, seal the jar up with the lid and place it on the changing table so it is available and easy to access when you need it for pampering and treating your little one’s rash naturally.

Applying the Diaper Rash Cream

The best time to apply the diaper rash cream to your baby’s bottom is after a comforting bath that has gently cleansed the skin, or right after a diaper change.

To apply the cream simply scoop up a teaspoon amount and gently apply it to the delicate area with the rash with a fine even thin layer of the cream.

Then place the diaper on and your little one is good to go.

You can apply the cream up to three to four times per day until the rash is completely healed up.

Conclusion for Homemade Lavender Chamomile Diaper Rash Cream

Next time your little one has a rash, skip the drugstore brand diaper rash creams and make your own that is all natural and just as effective without the harmful ingredients.

Your baby will feel a whole lot better and you will be very pleased you made it and used instead when the rash is all cleared up and go away.

Always remember, the easiest way to prevent future diaper rashes is to keep your little ones bottom dry and clean all the time. However, as most parents know, even with keeping the little one’s bottom dry and clean often, rashes do still occur on occasions.
