Ingredients for Making Homemade Tea Tree Oatmeal Face Mask for Treating Poison Oak Rash

The ingredients you will need to make a homemade tea tree mint oatmeal face mask are

  • 10 drops of tea tree oil,
  • 10 drops of peppermint,
  • 1 cup of ground oatmeal and
  • 3 tablespoons of witch hazel.

You can find all of these ingredients in your local herbal and health food stores.

Healing Benefits of Homemade Tea Tree Oatmeal Face

The tea tree oil in this face mask will help disinfect and help draw out the oils from the rash so the skin can heal up.

The peppermint is used to provide a cooling sensation while you are wearing the mask on your face and to bring down the inflammation of the rash.

The ground oatmeal is used to help dry out and provide soothing relief from the itching, and the witch hazel helps to cleanse and detoxify the skin.

All these ingredients work together to provide soothing relief and treatment to your poison ivy, oak, or sumac rash without harming your delicate facial skin.

Making the Mask

The way you make the homemade tea tree oil mint oatmeal face mask is by placing the 10 drops of tea tree oil, 10 drops of peppermint, 1 cup of ground oatmeal and 3 tablespoons of witch hazel into a small bowl.

Next, you will take a small wire whisk and combine the ingredients until you get a thick pasty facial mask with a mint aroma to it.

If you find the mask is too watery, simply add in more dried ground oatmeal.

If the mask is too thick, add in more witch hazel.

I think the thicker the mask is, the better it stays on your skin and face, and the better it works.

Now, after you are done making the mask, it is best to use it right away or store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.

The way you apply the homemade tea tree mint oatmeal mask is by taking a handful of it and layering it all over your face in a nice thick even layer until your face is completely covered.

After, you simply allow the mask to stay on for 30 minutes or longer to help draw out as much oil and puss as possible.

Once you are done with the face mask, wash it off with warm water by rinsing your face underneath the shower, and not with a wash cloth.

You want to allow the water to run over you face washing the mask off.

You do not want to rub the mask off because it will spread the poison ivy, oak, or sumac rash all over the place.

You basically want to rinse all the nastiness down the drain.

After, you will simply pat your skin dry and let it be.

You should notice after the mask is off your rash is drier and not oozing as much, and the painful itching is almost gone.

The amount of times throughout the day that you are going to want to use this facial mask is about twice to really help treat and keep the rash soothes and under control.
