3 Effective Home Remedies for Soothing and Treating Fever Blisters

Fever blisters are sores that I always seem to get on the corner of my lips and inside my mouth. The blisters often occur in small clusters within the mouth area, but in the past, I have also had them on my chin and near my nose as well.

Typically, the blisters occur when I am sick and my immune system is weak, but they can also occur due to stress.

Treating fever blisters can be difficult because the herpes simplex virus is what causes them.

As many of you may know, viruses cannot be cured with medications. In fact, viruses such as the herpes simplex virus stay dormant within the body at all times and can become active at any time causing blister outbreaks.

The good news is there are treatments that can help soothe and speed up the healing of fever blisters.

Some of the treatments I like to use are natural remedies such as lemon balm tea, manuka honey, vitamin E, eggs and plain yogurt.

I use these remedies because they contain natural anti-viral properties in them that help treat and heal up fever blisters fast.

Lemon Balm Tea for Soothing and Treating Fever Blisters

My favorite remedy for treating fever blisters is lemon balm tea.

Lemon balm tea is soothing and healing to blistered skin.

The way I use lemon balm tea is by taking a hot cup of the tea and mixing it with a tablespoon of manuka honey.

After, I enjoy sipping on the tea to help treat the fever blisters and boost my immune system.

However, while the tea is warm I also like to take a cotton ball, dip it into the tea, and place it directly onto the fever blisters as well to help soothe, cleanse and treat them externally.

Vitamin E for Treating Fever Blisters

Another remedy I like to use after using the lemon balm tea is vitamin E oil.

I find taking some pure vitamin E oil with a cotton swab and applying it to the fever blisters, helps heal them as well.

I also find applying vitamin E helps prevent scaring, which fever blisters sometimes leave behind.

At least, that is what I have found from my own experience suffering from the blisters.

Eggs and Yogurt for Preventing and Healing Fever Blisters

Along with the lemon balm with manuka honey and vitamin E for treating fever blisters, I also like to make an egg and yogurt facial mask and apply it to my face and fever blisters.

The mask is very soothing and healing to the blisters.

To make the mask, simply combined an egg with a cup of yogurt and a tablespoon of manuka honey if you wish, in a small bowl, until you end up with a creamy thick facial mask.

After, apply the mask to your skin and fever blisters in a nice even layer.

Next, leave the mask on for a good thirty minutes before rinsing it off with warm water and patting your face dry.

Once you have done the egg and yogurt facial mask, your fever blister should feel soothed and you should see less redness.

Now, along with using the egg and yogurt facial mask, I also like to eat eggs and plenty of yogurt cups during my fever blister outbreaks as well because eggs and yogurt contain lysine.

Lysine is an essential nutrient needed to block and fight off the virus that causes fever blisters as well as prevent the virus from becoming active.

Bottom Line

Fever blisters are painful and annoying and a sign that your immune system could be weak and under a lot of physical and mental stresses.

The good news is, there are simple natural remedies out there to help soothe, treat and heal up fever blisters naturally, and you have just learned about some of them in this article.

I do hope those of you who try these remedies find some relief from your fever blisters during your outbreaks.
