Herbal Remedies and Recipes For Treating Body Aches – Bay Leaf Bath

Having body aches could be the worst of experience for anyone. Body aches are usually caused by cold, illness, or injury.

There are several options available if you want to treat body pains but one of the best option remains taking a bay leaf bath soak with a homemade bay leaf herbal soak. You should know that making such a bath is really easy and very nice to relax in; as it helps in relieving body aches from head to toe.

The natural ingredients you would need to make bay leaf herbal bath soak are:

  • 1 cup of dried crushed bay leaves
  • 5 cups of Epsom salt
  • ½ cup of buttermilk powder
  • ½ a cup of dried chamomile flowers and
  • 20 drops of lavender oil.

The above ingredients are all natural and organic and thus they will hold more healing and soothing benefits to them. The goodness is that these natural ingredients can be bought at your local herbal and pharmaceutical stores.

You should know that the main ingredients in this bath soak that helps in relieving body aches the most are the crushed bay leaves. Bay leaves contain an oily substance called Oleum Lauri which helps in relieving pains and body aches caused by coldness, illness or injury.

Bay leaves also contain parthenolides. These are compounds that help in relieving aches and pains as well. They also contain antioxidants called eugenol that helps in relieving and reducing inflammations in the body that could be causing aches and pain.

The other ingredients in this bath soak also serve their purposes. Epsom salt helps relax sore muscles; lavender helps calm and soothe; chamomile helps relieve aches and pains; and the buttermilk helps nourish the skin and keep it soft and beautiful looking. These ingredients all contains antioxidants that can really help relieve body aches and any kind of stiffness and tension the body might have.

Making The Bay Leaf Herbal Soak Bath

To make the bay leaf herbal soak, place all the ingredients listed above; that is the 1 cup of dried crushed bay leaves, 5 cups of Epsom salt, ½ cup of buttermilk powder, ½ a cup of dried chamomile flowers, and 20 drops of lavender oil; and place them into a large metal mixing bowl.

Now, take a large metal spoon and combine the ingredients together until you get a creamy white powdery herbal mixture that smells like lavender and bay leaves. Combining produces a nice bay leaf herbal soak to use for making a nice soothing relaxing bath that helps heals your achy body. The homemade bath soak could be stored in an air tight container and placed next to your bathtub until ready for use.

When you are ready to treat yourself with the homemade bay leaf herbal bath soak; start by filling your bathtub up with plenty of hot water. Then pour 3 cups of the bath soak into the bathwater and allow it to dissolve; say for about 5 minutes. The bath will become milky with dried herbs floating all around.

Don’t fret it, as this is exactly what the bath is meant to be.

Now, step into the tub and soak yourself for as long as you possibly can; or until you become ache free. Personally I like to soak in this bath soak for about an hour when my body is super achy. The bath really is very soothing and has a lovely herbal lavender aroma to it that helps calm my mind and soul as I am sure it certainly do to yours as well.

After a soak like this, you should feel less aches and pains and also will feel more relaxed. Your skin will also feel much softer and smoother; with a tinge of lovely light lavender scent to it. Also, this bath soak is ideal for irritated dry skin.

However, persons that are allergic to chamomile, lavender, or bay leaves you should not indulge in this homemade bay leaf herbal soak at all. Aside this, this soak is an ideal natural way to relieve your body of aches from head to toe.
