Cooling Sunburn Gel Remedy for Relieving Sunburns

In this article, we will be looking at how to make a homemade remedy for relieving sunburns.

Sunburns can be painful, red and even blistery. Sometimes regular aloe vera gel alone cannot soothe and heal away sunburns fast enough.

You can however, soothe and heal a sunburn’s symptoms making a homemade cooling sunburn gel to place on your sunburn.

Ingredients for making the cooling sunburn gel

The ingredients you will need to make the cooling sunburn gel are 6 cups of aloe vera gel, 3 drops of peppermint oil, 3 drops of spearmint oil, 3 drops of tea tree oil, 10 drops of vitamin e oil and 10 drops of coconut oil.

If you do not have these ingredients on hand you can find them at your local health food store.

The reason these ingredients are used to make the gel is because the mint oils provide a cooling sensation, aloe heals and protects the skin, tea tree oil is an antiseptic so it keeps the sunburn clean and germ free, and the vitamin e and coconut oil help keep the skin hydrated so it can repair itself properly.

All you have to do is make up a batch of this cooling sunburn gel and apply it to your skin as often as needed until your sunburn begins to heal properly.

Making the Cooling Sunburn Gel

To make the cooling sunburn gel, get out a medium bowl and pour the 6 cups of aloe vera gel, 3 drops of peppermint oil, 3 drops of spearmint oil, 3 drops of tea tree oil, 10 drops of vitamin e oil and 10 drops of coconut oil into it.

After, take a spoon and mix the ingredients together until your get a mint smelling gel like mixture that will be slightly oily, but very soothing to the skin once it is applied.

Applying the Gel to the Skin

The best way to apply the homemade cooling sunburn gel to the sunburn is by taking a handful of it and massaging it directly into your skin until it is fully absorbed.

You may feel a little sticky or oily after applying it, but I promise it will provide you with a very nice cooling and soothing sensation, and begin to heal your sunburn right away.

The amount of times you will want to apply the gel to your sunburned skin is about 3 to 4 times a day or as often as you can. The more gel you apply, and the better you take care of your sunburned skin, the faster and better it will heal up.

Now, I would not recommend you use this homemade gel if you are allergic to any of the ingredient in it.

If you are allergic to the mint oils in this remedy, you can always leave them out and place the aloe vera gel in the refrigerator for an hour or so and then apply it to your skin and it will still provide you with a cooling soothing sensations that will help relief the burning sensation of your sunburn.

If your allergic to the coconut oil and vitamin e oil you can always switch them out for almond oil, grape seed oil, or jojoba oil because they are also excellent for the skin and will help with the healing process.

There are so many alternative ways to make this cooling sunburn gel. It just all depends on what is right for you, but if you can make the cooling sunburn gel recipe we talked about in this article, I would say go ahead instead of using the alternatives.

In all honesty I feel that this is really the best one to use for treating and soothing a painful sunburn as I have tried it myself, as well as close friends who had sunburns problems.

End Notes

So, say goodbye to that sunburned blistery red skin and hello to cooling soothing relief.

I do hope those of you who make this homemade cooling sunburn gel will enjoy the way it soothes and cools and heals up that sunburn of yours, and remember next time you’re out in the sun to apply some sunscreen to prevent another sunburn from happening.
