A Sweet Remedy for Healing Sunburns

I hate it when I get scratches, cuts, insect bites, stings, and blisters that burst open with fluid squirting out of them. It seems anytime my skin is harmed in any of the ways I just mentioned, it takes forever for it to heal back up again.

Thankfully, I told my aunt about this and she told me a secret family remedy for wounds that I could make in my kitchen and use right away to promote faster healing.

The remedy is a sweet one that is for sure, and it is an herbal sugar paste. I did laugh a bit because the remedy contained the word sugar in it, but truth be told the remedy is easy to make and very helpful when it comes to speeding up the recovery of wounds naturally.

Ingredients Needed

The ingredients needed to make the herbal sugar paste for healing minor skin wounds are four tablespoons of pure farm fresh bee honey, a forth cup of confectioners sugar, five drops each of peppermint oil, tea tree oil and lavender oil and three tablespoons of pure vitamin E oil.

These ingredients I always keep on hand anyway because I am all about creating my own remedies, but if you don’t have them in your kitchen like I do you can purchase them at any local herbal shop or whole food grocery store.

However, the ingredients can be pricey, but once you have them all on hand, you can make as my much herbal sugar paste as you need for wounds.

The Reasons Why the Ingredients Are Used in the Paste

The reasons why the ingredients are used in the paste are bountiful. We will start by discussing why farm fresh honey is needed.

The fresher and less processed honey is, the more healing properties it contains. Honey alone contains antibacterial and antiseptic properties that are beneficial for cleansing and healing wounds naturally.

In addition, honey contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants the skin needs to repair when it is damaged. Along with those reasons, honey also acts as a natural skin protector when it is applied to damaged skin to help prevent the skin from further damage and infection.

Next, we will talk about sugar.

Sugar is used in the herbal sugar paste simply because it draws water out from wounds well along with puss caused by an infection. The main reason why wounds do not heal is due to too much moisture.

Oils such as the peppermint, tea tree oil, lavender oil and vitamin E oil are useful in the paste because they contain medicinal properties such as anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, pain relieving and soothing properties. In addition, the peppermint oil in the paste provides a cooling soothing sensation to the wound due to the natural amounts of menthol it contains.

Now, all these ingredients combined and working together make a potent healing paste that helps wounds heal and close up faster preventing bacteria and germs from getting into them causing further infections and damage.

Making the Herbal Sugar Paste for Wounds

Before making the herbal sugar paste for wounds, you will need one clean and sterilized mason jar with a lid. Once you have your sterilized jar you can go ahead, measure out all your ingredients, and pour them into the jar.

After, take a sterilized mixing spoon and combined them together well until you get this golden herbal scented moistened paste.

Then, place the lid on the paste and store it in your medicine cabinet until you need it. The paste should stay fresh for up to six months, but after that, you will want to make a new batch.

Applying the Paste

Next time you get a cute, scrape, insect bite or sting, small open wound or blister that burst open; first cleanse the damaged skin with warm water and a gentle soap.

If the wound is serious, it is best to go to the hospital immediately for medical attention.

This herbal sugar paste is only for minor skin wounds.

Now, to apply the paste, take a tongue depressor, scoop a small amount of the paste out of the jar, and carefully pack it onto the wound in a nice even thick layer.

Then, take a bandage and cover the wound up.

Repeat these steps daily until the wound or wounds are healed up.

For me, depending on my wound, the wound typically takes a full week to be completely healed with constant use of the paste.

However, it can vary from person to person because everyone’s body heals differently.

Precautions

Remember, for severe wounds, it is best to go visit a doctor for proper medical attention.

A doctor should check out minor wounds that do not heal on their own as well.

Insect bites and stings that come along with a fever, nausea, vomiting, body aches and chills, should be properly treated by a medical professional as well.

Otherwise, common minor cuts, scrapes, open blisters, insect bites, stings, and small nicks to the skin can be treated with this herbal sugar paste.

However, those of you with allergies to any of the ingredients in the paste should not use it as your wound healing remedy.
