The title of this post may have already given it away- but it’s true.
We tried to freeze Penny.
Not on purpose.
It was just another day of snowshoeing.
A day of snowshoeing to a lunch spot where I whipped out my sardines + soda cracker lunch + Eric started dry heaving.
They’re delicious I swear!

I spy something green!
The view from our lunch perch would have been amazing if not for the looming snow clouds.
View or no view it was still mega awesome + super serene.
Please note the amount of snow on Penny’s coat at 1.5 miles into the hike.
Four flakes?
Fourteen tops.
All you could hear was snow falling + an owl whooooooing.

At the 3.2 mile photo shoot Penelope was ready to head back.
She was saying things like –
Can we go back to the car now?
Pleeeeeeeeease?
I have an email to send Mama Pea about coats!
Again with the would-be breathtaking views.
The hike back down the trail was crazy.
Our tracks had been completely covered by fallen snow.
Our faces were frozen.
I got a blister.
The world was coming to an end.
Until we reached the car.
Can I get a HELL YES for heated seats + half eaten sandwiches?!
I love you Subaru.

You guys are so adventurous! I’ve said it before but my dream is to live in colorado. If it has to be snowy and cold I at least want to live somewhere with those kind of views and activities to do!

hahaha hands down the best post i’ve read from anyone in a very long while. and not just for the penny pupsicle pics.. but your hilarious commentary to go along with them. i am super jealous that you guys keep getting hit with snow,i have NO idea what utah’s problem is. at least we got a little bit this weekend that made for fun frolicking.. but not enough for waist deep powder lines

We are totally not getting hit with snow..Eric + I run out to the mountains the second we hear the word snow!!!!!!!!!! and get out play on while we can. Penny is going boot shopping today. She is so excited!

Penny didn’t get a heated seat…..or a sammich….. But she did get a nest made with a therma-rest foam cell pad on the bottom + 2 really uber warm brookstone blankets + a human pillow + 1 entire cup of homemade dog treats + cheese + crackers + some peanut butter. And today she is going boot shopping!

You can have 3,000 sandwiches. But not on gluten free bread –bc I’d have to take out a loan for that. I totally want to link this post to the top chef message board but don’t exactly want to get sued or anything. PS eric lied to you. The michigan ditch trail is a HORRIBLE first trail. I HATEd using snow shoes on a flat path. It felt like it drug on forever + ever + my feet were way more sore than up + down trails we’ve done. I’M REAdY TO GO SNOWSHOEING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! And —Feel better,okay?!
I love that you are both willing to go hiking in the snow,when it’s snowing. I LOVE hiking in the winter,but no one else [family + friends] like to/ever want to!
I’m pretty sure Penny is equipped with an incredibly warm coat as it is,so the snow pics don’t make me sad like some people up in the comments,though I am glad she finally got some booties,if for nothing else than the comedy factor. Also,I am crazy coveting your purple beanie.
