Shelf Road

Let’s play a little game called I Spy….

I spy something black.

IMG_0579.JPG

Correctamundo!

It’s a bat.

[not exactly sure if it was dead or alive - it looked wet]

IMG_0580.JPG

I spy something oceanic.

IMG_2315.JPG

Bingo!

It’s a whale tail.

IMG_2316.JPG

I spy something spoiled + sleepy.

Okay –That one was a freebie.

Game over.

Eric + I like to climb.

We also like to travel.

Almost every weekend we are out traveling + climbing.

This past weekend —Shelf Road —Cañon City –Colorado.

Welcome to the campground.

A climb with a view –

IMG_2245.JPG

We met our friends Peter + Michelle down there.

This is Peter leading a really hard 5.11b/c climb.

Way to go Pedro!

IMG_2268.JPG

I sat that climb out.

It made me sweat just looking at it.

IMG_2274.JPG

No camping trip would be complete without a box of wine.

This is my hands down absolute favorite box of wine.

IMG_2301.JPG

I love cards!

And side ponytails.

And apparently purple teeth.

IMG_2304.JPG

Our campsite was gorgeous.

And even better —There was a HUGE lightening storm all around us –but not on us –as soon as it got dark.

Super creepy + cool.

IMG_2309.JPG

On our way home we stopped to check out the Garden of the Gods.

IMG_0608.JPG

Super pretty.

IMG_0610.JPG IMG_0623.JPG

We got one climb in at Garden of the Gods + packed up + headed home as a thunderstorm rolled in.

Cheers to an action packed weekend.

I want them all to be like this.

Nice pics! I kind of think bats are cute. They’re like mice with ugly wings. :)

That would be so awesome to be blanketed by lightening storms but not be in them. I’d like to experience that one day. Looks like a great time of year to be camping in CO!

The lightening storm was seriously one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my 28 years! Hope you get to experience it too!

Your life is too cool. Rock climbing plus wine would not be pretty (for me),but I bet you experts had it down ;)

Oh rest assured the order of the day was:

        -Rock climbing
        -Wine drinking

        I’m pretty sure I would never drink + climb…Okay Okay…maybe one beer ;)

I’m mildly obsessed with side ponytails. Even more so after drinking a box of wine. Also –your travels make me so jealous that I don’t live near such beautiful places!!

It was fabulous! I’m not so sure how fabulous it is going to be when it snows. I think I am allergic to snow.

I totally agree –no camping trip is complete without a box of wine. In Australia,we call it “goon.”Not sure why,but it is a must on any outdoors adventure. Love your photos –just makes me want to pack up the truck and head off into the wilderness!

I can’t wait to start calling my box of wine a goon. “Honey —will you grab the goon, please?”Love it!
