“Homemade Beans”

Beans from “scratch”in less than an hour? No soaking required? —No way!!

YES WAY!!

This technique can be used for any kind of dried bean [that I know of] and it is simple too!!

Hello Black beans.

First give them a nice bath —this gets the dust + debris off of them.

Follow that bath with a shower. Think of it as a little trip to the spa for you beans.

And then back into a bath again. A nice hot bath sans bubbles.

Rapidly boil for 30-40 minutes. WATCH OUT these puppies will go through a TON OF WATER. So stir every now + then + make sure there is plenty of water in the pot.

Between 30-40 minutes start tasting them. You’re checking for “doneness”not flavor at this point. The rapid boil stage can take upwards of an hour depending on the beans.

Once the beans have reached your TEXTURE SATISFACTION season those babies up!! I used red pepper flakes + salt. Simmer them on low for 15 minutes to allow them to take on the flavors.

If I EVER hear of you soaking beans over night again you’ll be in big trouble missy/mister!!

How do I keep myself + my domestic partner healthy + happy?

Clearly by keeping a CUP-O-CELERY in the fridge.

So when you open it up for a round of mindless/boredom snacking you can grab a quick celery stick to bump up your nutrition status + curb your snacky cravings.

How do I avoid lazy food slumps ie:eating ready prepared frozen foods + going out to eat?

Obviously with a little SIMPLE PREPERATION.

Just wash + chop up veggies + keep them in a container ready to rock + roll.

Grocery store grated cheese is GROSS so simply grate your own + store it away.

Insert photo of a box of cajun spiced grilled shredded chicken here.

So with my “homemade beans”,my chopped veggies,my grated cheese + my shredded chicken I assembled a nutritious + delicious meal in less than 2 minutes.

This is the only way to prepare beans in my book. I’ve soaked them overnight before and for some reason the entire process bugged me.
I learned to boil the beans instead and bean making has been much happier in my world:)

Love the idea of keeping celery in a cup for late night snacking urges. I’m going to put that tip to use immediatly!
