VaCa Day Five….

It was the lamest day out of our entire trip–but still amazingly beautiful + funnnnnN..

It started out GREAT with a butter laden breakfast at JOHN’S PLACE per recommendation of Marianne

IMG_5436.JPG

There was peanut butter in the jar with the jellies–So we ate it.

WAY better than typical American PB.

IMG_5438.JPG

I put on Wes’glasses to see what I would look like–

NERD!!

IMG_5439.JPG

Seriously I would marry this plate–except my hips would be gianormous + I just can’t have that.

All in all I probably ate at least a minimum of one whole stick of butter by consuming this breakfast–totally worth every kcal.

I heart john’s place.

I also heart ordering whatever I want for breakfast–this plate wasn’t on the menu–

I wanted a half of eggs benny + a pancake —So I got a half of eggs benny + a pancake.

IMG_5441.JPG

Wes got some kind of crazy tropical french toast–heavenly + swimming in butter.

IMG_5446.JPG

Then straight off to wine tasting!!

We went to 3 or 4 vineyards–the Blue Grouse was my favorite of the tour.

I think the lady in this picture was drunk at noon–but she was FAbulOuS + they had great wines.

View from the drive–

IMG_5452.JPG

I don’t know the name of this vineyard–but I LOVED their principles.

Check out the use of multiple plants to eliminate the need for pesticides!!

IMG_5456.JPG

Really?? This is what I’m supposed to dry my hands with at a gas station bathroom??!!

IMG_5457.JPG

I prefer the high tech version at the ferry!!

And YES I have a thing for hand dryers.

This little guy below just stole the number one hand dryer spot in my heart.

The EXCELERATOR hand dryer held that spot for the past 3 years.

IMG_5458.JPG

This day sucked so bad because the ferry we were supposed to take was full —So we ended up losing 4 hours of this day —trapped in the car waiting for the ferry + then on the ferry.

Much needed rest was had!!

IMG_5460.JPG IMG_5464.JPG

Can anyone tell me what this sign means??

IMG_5468.JPG

HOLY CLOUDS!!

IMG_5478.JPG IMG_5496.JPG

Vancouver from afar–

IMG_5499.JPG IMG_5502.JPG   IMG_5504.JPG

We LANDED!!

Feet away from the SEA TO SKY highway.

IMG_5506.JPG

This highway is SO GORGEY. They were filming a Lexus Commercial on the road–

IMG_5507.JPG

Our delay forced us not to camp–but we snagged a hotel room at a swanky hotel in WHISTLER for less than $100!!

Whistler was an experience. A bizarre experience. Full of WASTED teeny boppers + babies trusted with funds (so I speculate)..

And the biggest visitor center bag of douche ever–

Kelsey–“Hey! We missed our ferry + couldn’t hike in tonight–do you recommend an economically friendly place to stay for the night?”

Bag of Douche–“Do you think you can just show up to a WORLD CLASS area of the WORLD (yes he said that) without making reservations AT LEAST 2 YEARS in advance??!!”

It was hilarious.

He also told us we wouldn’t be allowed to hike without reservations. Apparently he’s never been hiking before + he really really likes reservations.

If I have one regret about this trip–I regret that I didn’t take a picture of the guy that said these amazingly hilarious things–just imagine–short. beady eyed. bag of douche.

The hotel room that apparently we should have booked 2 years ago (probably before it was even built)–

IMG_5508.JPG

We hot tubbed it to cool our tempers off + headed to the bar–

I had another IPA that didn’t taste like an IPA.. It was very light–but very floral + delicious.

IMG_5511.JPG IMG_5517.JPG

LOVED the tax comment at the bottom of the menu.

IMG_5521.JPG

Appetizer. Stolen from Wes’plate.

IMG_5523.JPG

We called it an early night to catch some zzzzzzZZs for the BEST HIKING DAY OF MY LIFE (tomorrow)..

2010 winter olympics will be in Whistler–hope you booked your hotel reservations at least 2 years ago!!

Cheers!!

So cool! Thanks for sharing these wonderful pics and awesome experiences.

                          Couple things….

                          1. I went to TJ’s and per your suggestion, picked me up some of the sugar plums. 10 thumbs up! These little delights are quite incredible.

                          2. I also found the box of rasp. vanilla bars, but after subjecting them in a semi-warm cooler in the trunk of my car on a hot day, they didn’t make it back to my freezer solidified. Instead of throwing them out,I re-froze the liquid yogurt and even though they aren’t as pretty, still sooooo yummy. Thanks for the idea!

                          3. I also picked up the TJ’s Salmon Patties. Have you tried these? I’m thinking I will make them this week but they seem kind of plain. Any ideas on how to jazz them up or is there no need?

As always,I truly appreciate all of your wonderful food creation ideas and suggestions. You are a true foodie artist and I love it! :)

                          Have a fabulous week!!!

See,I told you that you were going to John’s Place for breakfast. And I see the cream cheese maple syrup on the French Toast plate. That stuff is like crack…sweet, sweet crack that makes your ass fat. Love it.

It sucks that you got delayed 4 hours because of ferries. That’s the summer for you. I hate the ferries. They are big on reservations as well, but you have to pay EXTRA for them. I refuse to pay them more money.

Whistler can be pretty pretenious, but at least you snagged a deal of a hotel room. Where did you end up that night, with your non-IPA tasting IPA?

PS –the assembly station is where you would meet if there was an emergency and you needed to evacuate the ship.
