I’ve never been to the San Juans, but I have friends who had life-changing experiences there.

Definitely go to Victoria,BC. Vancouver’s nice, but Victoria’s ADORABLE. The history museum is great (if you’re into that),you can do a real British tea service at a huge manor downtown, take a walk along the cute shops on the water, visit the Parliament building…It’s just one of the sweetest places in the WORLD. There is also a gorgeous garden you can take a bus to out of Victoria called the Butchart Gardens–it’s the restored grounds of an old mansion. We took my mother there for her 50th birthday and she said it was one of the best days of her life.

Hello! Seattlite and devoted reader here! I’m not big on camping (b/c of the bugs and waking up at 5am) but LOVE to hike and this area is FULL of great hikes!

Vancouver BC is amazingly fun! There are great hostels to stay at and it’s just a cute town.

Victoria is BEAUTIFUL and I always have fun there. I usually take the Victoria Clipper from Seattle (or Port Angeles if you are on the peninsula already).

The San Juans and Orcas Island are beautiful but I think you could go without seeing them.

        Mt Baker is meh.

And of course,Olympic National Park is a must. There is a game farm up there where you can drive through and check out bears and feed them jelly donuts (their fav)!

Feel free to give me a buzz if you want more info. Not sure on the details of the when/where/how on your trip up to the great northwest!

Vist Buchart Gardens, take a walk by the water and explore the cute shops, rent a moped and take a ride along Senenic Drive…so beautiful and FUN! Visit the Parliment Building too at night it is all lite up and beautiful! If you really like adventure take a sea plane ride and see it from the air! :)

Orcas Island is pretty, but if you are not near the main part of town,it can be a real pain in the ass to get around. There are no lights on the roads, for evening,so you have to be really careful witht he twisty roads and the deer that have been known to jump out.

That said, the Island is beautiful and there is alot of stuff to do. How about sea kayaking?

I’ve never been to any of those places,so I don’t think I’d be much help in deciding. I’m sure that wherever you end up you will have a blast though :) I’ve heard that cinnamon repels many bugs . . . I actually put cinnamon sticks around my apartment when I had ants, and that took care of the problem! Not sure if it works for mosquitoes though, but might be good to look into.

DEFINITELY go to Victoria…I have never been myself (even though I am from Canada, just in Alberta) but I know people from there and it is GORGEOUS!!!

I am heading to Vancouver in August so I don’t know much about it (first time) though if you like seafood, take advantage of all the fresh fish/shellfish on the coast! YUM!! SUSHI too!!!

Um…I only know of 2 hot springs –Radium and Fairmont, they are near the Alberta/BC border and I stayed at Fairmont last year and they were GORGEOUS!!!! SUPER warm and just perfect…

as for mosquitos…just don’t wear a lot of perfume…but you can get this strawberry scented bug spray by “Off”…it smells nice and keeps the bugs away (a little)
